Since 1999 I have been offering celebrancy services to people seeking authentic, meaningful, personalised ceremonies for any occasion.
I’m passionate about placing you, your needs, and your outlook at the heart of things, all the way from our first contact, through every step of the planning and through to the ceremony itself.
I’ve conducted ceremonies in chapels, village halls, pubs, community centres and front rooms – but most of my weddings, vow renewals, handfastings and namings have taken place outdoors; in fields, meadows, woodlands, and gardens large and small. A recent favourite was an intimate handfasting with about thirty people gathered round a wood fire on Brighton beach just before sunset on the winter solstice – with the full moon peeping over the roofs of the seafront hotels midway through the proceedings.
I’ve been studying and exploring nature based spiritualities for over twenty years and deliver celebrancy training courses for the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids – but I don’t describe myself as a ‘druid celebrant’ or ‘pagan celebrant’ because that feels much too tight a pigeonhole. I’m not into cloak flapping, superstition or dogma of any kind. But if, like me, you find the natural world a source of beauty, joy, inspiration and wonder, let’s explore how we can tap into that to make your ceremony truly magical.
What's my ceremony style?
Heartfelt, naturally magical ceremonies, conducted in a welcoming, down-to-earth way. I aim to balance warmth, humour and playfulness, intimacy, depth and magic in just the right ways for you – at the same time as making sure your ceremony feels welcoming and comfortable for your catholic grandma / hindu auntie / humanist uncle / friends and relations of all ages and persuasions.

Thank You River
River absolutely made our wedding. We knew we didn’t want anything religious, rigid or dull! The wedding was outdoors, chilled, fun and all about us. River was amazing. Our ceremony was fabulous. We had met River and chatted before the big day, so felt totally at ease. The ceremony was funny, personal, tender, tearful, happy and beautiful. Everyone at our day was so moved by the ceremony. I can not recommend River highly enough. Her skill to bring everything together, make everyone feel included and make the day shine is rare. Thank you, River for being such a star on our special day.
Mother Blessing
River crafted a wonderful Mother Blessing ceremony for me and a few friends in the comfort of my home, as part of my preparation for becoming a mother prior to the birth of my first child. Although I was a little nervous about being the centre of attention during an emotional spot in late pregnancy, River’s holding of the space gave me such rest from having to ‘entertain’ guests, and it was so easy and light, whilst I was also left feeling profoundly loved and cherished. The excitement and tenderness we all felt about this child coming was palpable, and one friend said when she got home she still felt like she was in a ceremonial realm, in a very special headspace, and didn’t quite know how to do ‘normal life’ again that evening! I really appreciated that River and I shared values on issues of cultural appropriation, and that it was important to us to come up with our own ritual objects, materials and practices to weave into the ceremony. Thank you dear River.

River is an amazing celebrant. She transformed the day into a really special, fun and moving time. She had such great ideas to include and interest our daughter. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone for any ceremony.
