I love being right! Or rather, I love the satisfaction of getting things right when I do. Staying true to who I am and who I want to be, whilst also doing whatever it is I happen to be doing, is really important to me. When I was a teacher I was always striving to find the right way to explain something and to get the idea across in a way that worked for each individual student. When I studied philosophy, I was always looking for the right way of framing the problem, the best argument or the truest solution. As your celebrant, I will make sure I find the right way of telling your story or that of your loved one; the way that is truest to you and yours. So if you’re looking for a ceremony that is something a bit different, then I’m your gal.
What's my ceremony style?
I absolutely love ritual and hanging meaning on different things – after all, meaning comes from us! I really enjoy the idea that something seemingly everyday, like the smell of jasmine or the taste of honey roasted nuts, can transport you back to your wedding day or be a welcome reminder of your lost loved one because we created a ritual that incorporated these things. I want to be there when new traditions are made, traditions that truly encapsulate who you and your loved ones are. I also think that alternative ceremonies can really set the tone for the day, whether that means starting the party early dancing with your guests, or breathing and staying close together to share in the special moments of the day. My fresh, bright and thoughtful approach to ceremonies ensures your experience is even more perfect than you imagined.

What do I offer?
Weddings
Whether you’re having a big wedding, an intimate vow renewal or a little elopement, I will get it right! Who doesn’t love listening to amorous stories filled with romance, curious personalities and the realness of relationships? Well, I certainly do and I also like retelling them in a way that reflects you as a the unique couple that you are! The ceremony can and should be one of the best parts of your wedding day because it is about you two as a couple from before, from now and forever. My aim is that your guests will come away laughing, crying with joy and full of love for you and also thinking “wow that was cool” because guess what? Wedding ceremonies can be cool! We can make sure we please everyone from your boomer parents and aunties to your feminist, anarchic mates and typically nonplussed younger cousins – challenge accepted!

Why choose Tabitha for your wedding?
Every couple has a special something and I want to find that and share it with your loved ones! All couples are different and so every ceremony I craft is too and we can really personalise your ceremony and make it truly about you. Yes, we can use traditional phrasing if you want to, but with me, you can transcend the trads and be who you really are from the mushy love birds to the couple who cringe at the thought of kissing in public. Getting to create rituals and traditions with you would be an honour!
Naming Ceremonies
What’s in a name? Well quite a lot actually! Our names are our identity and how people know us. Bringing a new person into the world, there is so much to celebrate about who they are and importantly, who they might become. Whether you’re introducing a new baby, adopting someone or embracing a new identity, a new name should be celebrated. Bringing everyone together to share their warm wishes and bright blessings for a new beginning is a joyful occasion that I would be honoured to be a part of. Whatever type of celebration you want it to be, from an intimate gathering to a slamming party, I’ll say that name right!

The beautiful traditions that are born when a new person comes into the world are truly inspiring and I’d love to be a part of them! I want your new person to have an excellent welcome into this new world and if there are guide parents being brought in too, I want them to feel the joy of being connected with a gorgeous new life. My aim is for your person to look back on their naming ceremony and think “wow, my parents were actually quite cool!” So if you want a slightly less disdainful teenager, you’ve got to choose me!
Renewal of Vows
Didn’t know about independent celebrants when you got married? Have a wedding anniversary coming up that you want to mark? Family has grown or changed and you want to mark this in your matrimony? Then a renewal of vows it is! I want to bring back what made you get married in the first place and then some. Couples who fancy a bit of a shake up, something a bit out of the ordinary or something that includes more of your family come to me for thoughtful, fun and fresh vow renewal ceremonies. As my parents say, whether you’re a young oldie or an old youngie, celebrating love in style is for everyone! What’s cooler than saying I love you once? Saying it again the right way!

I feel like big commitments are few and far between these days – brands loyalty is waning, friends flake out on plans, there are a million other people to date on the apps and Twitter can’t even commit to it’s own name! Getting married is completely admirable and in some ways I think more beautiful the more modern our world becomes. So to renew your vows is one of the most rebellious things you can do in this world of vacillation! Do it with me and we’ll bring out that radical love you share.
Funerals
Losing an important person in your life can be devastating and not saying goodbye properly is even worse. I understand that every person deserves a send off that they would have loved and that represents them as the person they were. Saying goodbye can be hard, but I am here to help you say it right. If you think that a traditional funeral might not be right for your person, then I can help you think outside of the box and celebrate their life and commiserate their death in a unique and meaningful way. Let’s be a little weird and unusual if that’s what your person was like!
First and foremost I will create a space for you to grieve and to share memories of your person. It is an honour for me to serve your person and I am here to listen and learn about them.

Why choose Tabitha for your funeral?
Whoever your person was, I want to know them and I want to understand who they were to you and to the world. Having the right funeral or celebration of life is so important and it holds a lot of meaning. I want to hang meaning on a ritual, a song, a smell or object so that you will always have the memory of your person through that thing. I want to involve all the people who were close with your person in whatever way they feel they can join in, even if that is silently, holding hands and breathing together in the space.

Tab is a one off and as such a true original!
What Tab has is a remarkable confidence and that self-assurance and self-knowledge is what makes her so good at being distinctively herself in her ceremonies.
Her delivery and competence really set her apart and she is so organised and professional, noticing every tiny detail and preparing and guiding everyone so completely. Her ceremonies have a relaxed tone as a result of all that intention setting expertise.
Her style is impish and fun, erudite, educated and full of tender humour. There was so much laughter and so much joy mingled with tears that couldn’t be avoided as we listened to the love story of two fabulous people.
I can’t wait to follow her career as she will undoubtedly touch many lives with her subtle charisma, vitality and calm demeanour. She takes her work so seriously and as a result creates ceremonies of such simplicity and fresh joy and that can never be a bad thing.
