How to plan an elopement beach wedding for sweet souls

M71_4541

So… You’re engaged, congratulations! Want to know where to start planning an elopement? Want a tropical beach destination? This could be because you’re not the couple who wants hundreds of guests around when you marry the love of your life so you are choosing to elope, or you’d like an adventure together in the process. Take a look at this Bowleaze beach elopement for a little inspiration, and a reason you don’t have to jet set across the world to find this.

An elopement does not have to be far from home, in this case for many of the suppliers Bowleaze beach was not too far from them. An elopement really is just about celebrating the love you share for each other and having an amazing day to celebrate just that. Flying across the world is great but in uncertain times like we are living in now, you may want to stay closer to home. Have a look at beaches near you and I am sure you will find the one!

Wedding Planner Tiana Hutchinson is the owner of Wildwood Weddings & Events, a wedding and event planning company aimed at the “wild hearts and sweet souls.” She shares with The Celebrant Directory her vision for this gorgeous styled shoot.

Concept

“This shoot came to life by Megan and I wanting to create a laid back elopement that couples can easily recreate themselves at ease. We all woke up at the crack of dawn to chase the sunrise at Bowleaze Cove beach and wow did it pull through! I picked Bowleaze beach to give a feeling of a holiday, who doesn’t love a destination wedding? At the moment all the cruise liners are parked in the bay, giving you the vision of where you could be setting sail, making the whole elopement dreamy!

We had two different sets of models – the wonderful Matthew and Jane, then Ben and Hilary. They had travelled for miles to join us and they both were incredible to work with. So relaxed and knew exactly how to work the camera and video by Hanh!

We had two different styles of shoots. Matthew and Jane were about the intimate elopement just the two of them. The light was just magical as we were shooting so early. For Ben and Hilary, their shoot started with an engagement followed by an intimate beach wedding with a ceremony arch and backdrop of the sea.

Style

The shoot was really styled around our love for boho styles. We wanted to tie in the surroundings with the set up, using subtle natural tones and cane furniture from Winterborne Hire & Styling. With the small set up I put together, I kept in mind how easy this would be for a couple to recreate themselves. I wanted to keep it very simple with a few pieces that still gave off the laid back vibe but enough to ‘dress’ the beach up for an occasion. Pop a bottle of bubbly and you can have the best two person ‘posh picnic’ on the beach.

Colour Scheme

I am a big believer in always keeping to your own style. If you’d like to recreate a beach elopement like this one, I would start with the colour palette. Make sure to always have around three colours or tones you can work with and it’s always great to try and tie this in with the surroundings of your day. This could be things such as the sand, any wildflowers in the meadows or even just the sky! We kept things really neutral with a pop of colour which was reflected in the ribbons used across the styling and on the vow books.

Ceremony

Cassie designed some beautiful vow books, with a warm orange ribbon wrapped around. I really love having all the little things tie the whole look together, you can also keep these to look back on!

Elopements are so intimate you really have the chance to create a special day that is a true reflection of each person. Laura of Fox & Star Ceremonies really helped with this. If you are wanting to create something special to bind you both together, take a look at the endless stories you can tell with a Celebrant. We included a couple to showcase, handtying and a sand ceremony. I just think the symbolism of these two rituals are truly beautiful, with such a simple way to embody your union and the love of you both together.”
