We were sprung into the world of celebrants due to a venue change and a shortage of registrars, but we feel so lucky that everything turned out as it has done.
Gemma is absolutely lovely, really friendly and is happy to do whatever to make the day run smoothly (she even had duct tape to sort the wedding parties pocket squares which weren’t staying right!)
We had an initial chat with Gemma before deciding on booking her where we had a chat about what a celebrant does and a general chat about us. This was not a sales pitch, Gemma truely wanted us to make the right decision for us, even if that had been a different celebrant or a registrar. I am usually a person that sleeps on every decision but half an hour after our meeting I’d booked Gemma such was the vibe I’d got from her!
After another couple of meetings, Gemma wrote a draft of our ceremony and it was perfect! We decided to have a sand ceremony after discussing various symbolic ceremonys with Gemma so we could have something to keep after the day.
We did the ‘legal’ bit on the Friday at the registry office with 2 witnesses this was nice and intimate but took absolutely nothing away from the ceremony Gemma led the following day. Everything Gemma put into the ceremony was so much more personal than the ‘legal stuff’ and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony!
If you are in two minds on whether to have a celebrant we would definitely say a celebrant is the way to go and Gemma is the one to go for!
