Hi, I'm Annie
My journey to be a Funeral Celebrant began a number of years ago when my Mum died.
She was nearly 99 and I wanted her funeral to be a real celebration of the incredible life that she had lived.
Since moving into a care home, she’d lost contact with her church – and so I was unsure who to ask to perform her ceremony. However, encouraged by her Funeral Arranger, I created her ceremony. It was, probably, one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
It really told her story. In a beautiful, authentic way. It spoke of her passions, her joy, successes and learnings.
There was laughter and tears with a real sense of gratitude for having had this remarkable woman in our lives.
I am sure, she’d have enjoyed it had she been there.
I knew that I wanted to create ceremonies for others like this and my journey to becoming a Qualified Independent Celebrant had begun!
What's my ceremony style?
Each of us is unique. And I would always want to honour that.
So, each ceremony will always be a reflection and an honouring of that uniqueness.
Because, I just love creating ceremonies.
Whether this is a Funeral at the local crematorium or a Celebration of Life in a space that was special to your loved one . . . it will always be delivered in a personal and compassionate way.
But, in addition to this are the ceremonies that are more shamanic in their origins.
Full or new moon fire ceremonies. Ones that honour our ancestors or are held in gratitude to our land. Or the creation of a Despacho – a gratitude ‘prayer’ for a loved one – that could be buried under a memorial tree.
Now those might all sound a bit quirky . . . but it’s amazing what can be created with a little bit of imagination and a few candles!

I have many, many years experience working as a nurse and midwife within the NHS and know that I have been able to support many people, and their families, through times of change . . . and loss.
I believe I have a gentle and compassionate nature with many commenting on my ability to hold a safe space for them . . . especially during times of sadness and grief.
In addition to this is my ability to listen and really hear what is being said . . . and asked for. Taking this information to create a heart centred ceremony really honouring the life of their loved one.

Funerals
My decision to train as a Celebrant arose after creating my Mum’s farewell ceremony and I have only ever wanted to work as a Funeral Celebrant.
My background as a Nurse, Midwife, Therapist and Coach has given me so much experience in supporting people and their families during times of change.
Death brings so much change to our lives. Even when it’s expected, or perhaps welcomed after a long period of suffering, we can feel as though our world has been turned upside down to say the least.
And that’s where I can offer so much support for you. Being there, listening, guiding and helping you arrange the farewell ceremony that you want for your loved one.
Whether this is a traditional funeral or one that is held at a later date as a ‘get together’ to celebrate their life – the choice is yours and I would be delighted to help as you decide what works best for you.
