Hi, I'm Petra
Hi! I’m Petra from Blossom Tree Ceremonies.
I am a tree-loving, dog-friendly, nature-loving, heart-led celebrant so I’m passionate about quirky, outdoor ceremonies enriched with rituals and symbolism!
As a fun and friendly celebrant, an adoptive Mum and poet, I love connecting with families and couples (and their pets!) to help them embrace the storms and the sunshine of life, by creating personal and poetic ceremonies.
I’m based in Altrincham, Cheshire and I conduct ceremonies in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside (where I’m from!), Lancashire and Staffordshire.
I am a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC) so feel secure that I am covered by their public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
My own life experience gives me the calm, reassuring and resilient nature required to be a celebrant, whilst also instilling in me the wonder and joy of the storyteller when creating ceremonies that reflect your personal beliefs and values.
What's my ceremony style?
I love being a celebrant and really connecting with couples and families. I love finding themes and symbolism to weave into the ceremony and it’s all about the love stories that I am told for couples and for parents welcoming a child into their family and for those say farewell to a loved one.
If, like me, and your pooch is always by your side, then why not have them by your side at your Wedding or Vow Renewal? How happy will you be with your furry best friend celebrating with you both?
Our pets are one of the family, so it makes perfect sense!

My Wedding Package of £600 is all inclusive, with no hidden extras.
It’s all about getting to know you, so we can have unlimited chats and get-togethers. It starts with you both completing a questionnaire which is a fun and re-affirming experience and often gives me some golden nugget quotes for your Love Story!
I will also help you choose the MUSIC, POEMS, READINGS and create RITUALS and SYMBOLISM, that will enhance your unique ceremony.
I help you write your unique Wedding Vows – created by you, for you and with you.
I will do a recce of the venue with you, as I like to get a feel for the place where the ceremony will take place and we must have a rehearsal of your ceremony so you will feel more relaxed on your Big Day!
Plus a Keepsake Ceremony Script and a framed Ceremony Certificate.

Naming Ceremonies
There is so much hope for the future when welcoming a new child into your family. Each new life is unique, and naming ceremonies offer such a magical way to celebrate this. Our name is part of the foundation of our identity and bestowing your specially chosen name on your child is a lifelong gift of love.
A NAMING CEREMONY or an ADOPTION CEREMONY can be held for a newborn baby, toddler, or a child of any age. The older the child, the more involved they can be in helping to create their own ceremony – and what memories they will have!
My Naming & Adoption Ceremony Package of £400 is all inclusive, with no hidden extras.
This includes:
The entire planning, including and on-the-day process. I will invest my time to get to know you and your little one well and to create your own unique ceremony.
You will also receive:

Being your celebrant doesn’t just involve conducting your ceremony on the day – half the fun is in the planning! I’ll be available via phone, email, video call or face-to-face as much as you like during the whole process because I want to make sure you get my full bespoke service.

Whether it’s unicorns, pirates, teddy bears, rainbows or anything else your little one loves, they can be included as the theme for their naming ceremony. It’s great to incorporate the meaning of your child’s name, birth date or birthstone. Music, singing, dancing, poems….and lots of cake…will all make the ceremony magical and memorable and we could even have a singalong! There are so many fun ways to create little rituals throughout the ceremony and get everyone involved…even your pooch!
Renewal of Vows

Funerals
As a funeral celebrant, I am usually booked via the funeral directors who know me and match me with families. However, the decision is all yours, and you can book me direct, as you are free to choose anyone you like to lead the funeral service for your loved one. Together we will create a meaningful and relevant farewell, whether it’s a simple and modest reflection or a vibrant celebration of life. I am passionate about Woodland or Natural Burials, as they offer an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional burials and cremation. They usually take place in natural burial grounds or designated woodland burial sites within larger cemeteries.
A burial in a beautiful resting place amongst nature, with trees and wildflowers, is comforting, calming and healing, as part of the natural cycle of life.
My prices start from £206 for a ceremony at a crematorium. For a service at a crematorium followed by a burial at a cemetery my price is £331. For a ceremony and burial at a Natural Burial Ground my price is £350.
On the day I am contacted by the Funeral Director, I will phone the family to have an initial chat and to introduce myself and reassure the family. I will then arrange to visit the family and can spend anywhere between 1 to 4 hours, listening and making notes, as they share their memories. I usually write the eulogy and will deliver this and the full ceremony within 48 yours for approval and will make any amendments requested. I will help select poems, reading, music and any symbolic enhancements.

Wedding
Petra has made our wedding so memorable with her lovely ceremony. She was so helpful throughout the whole wedding planning process, and really got to know us beforehand, so the ceremony felt very personal and was absolutely perfect. I cannot recommend Petra enough, the day would not have been the same without her, and I’m so glad she was there on our special day, making it even more special!
Wedding Celebration Review
Petra was a fantastic celebrant. We found Petra’s profile online quite late in our celebration process. We contacted her and she responded promptly and arranged a video call. From our first conversation we could see she was organised, diligent and, most importantly, personable. Prior to our event she met us a number of times, learnt about us as a couple and put together a wonderful and well planned ceremony. She even took the time to visit our venue and get to the know the venue and staff. We met in person a few days before the event (we live overseas, so it was difficult to meet before that). Petra ensured we ran through the ceremony and double checked everything, it was meticulous, and so very helpful for us. On the day itself, we felt at ease and due to the prior planning, Petra’s warm nature and her willingness to get involved (we did some sing-a-longs and had some surprises…) it was an amazing ceremony and one we will never forget. Many of our guests commented on the wonderful story Petra had put together about us for the ceremony and asked how long we had known her for. We really appreciated all the hard work she put in for us in a short period of time and would whole heartedly recommend Petra to any of our friends or family.
Wonderful Service
Petra performed our Father’s Interment of Ashes at Hale Cemetery, and we were delighted with the service she provided. Our family all now live in the South of England, but it was our Dad’s wish to be interred in his family grave. Petra was very helpful in organising the ceremony, even liaising with Trafford Council on several occasions on our behalf. We spoke on Zoom to talk about our Dad and his life, and what we wanted for the ceremony, and Petra was warm, kind and empathetic, and really helped us share our thoughts and memories easily, enabling her to produce a beautiful eulogy for our Dad, and a lovely simple service, as he would have wanted.
i would thoroughly recommend Petra Rigby as your celebrant, whatever the occasion you are marking.
