Hi, I'm Jane
People like to tell me their stories and I would love to hear yours! Whether it’s the adventures of a lifetime passed, the joy of a new addition, or the roller coaster of your love together, I will listen and create the story you want to share at your celebration. I have been around for quite a while now with a background in nursing and education and I have been told I’m caring, supportive, a good listener as well as having empathy and a calming approach…… but putting that on one side – I love people and I love having a good laugh! Let’s get together and talk!
What's my ceremony style?
I will take the time to get to know you, so you feel comfortable with me and trust in me to support you from the beginning through to the end of the ceremony. We will talk about the who, what, when and of course, the why of the celebration making sure to include any elements that have a special meaning for you or your family, and any particular customs you would like incorporated. These could include one or more of the many rituals such as recognising the cycles of nature, handfasting, a sand ceremony or unity candles…. whatever feels right for you and your family. I am happy to explore many more and happy to learn so you have the celebration that is perfect for the occasion.

I live in East Cheshire but am originally from Birmingham and believe that love is the most important and most challenging emotion we experience – together we will develop the perfect celebration to mark those special and memorable moments whether they be sad and poignant or joyous and exhilarating.
Time spent together is essential to craft the perfect celebration and I will give you the time you need to share your story. I can be alternative, or I can be conventional whatever you want your celebration to be, I will work with you to achieve your ideal ceremony.

Whenever I meet new people, I am fascinated and honoured to listen to their stories. Your love story is unique to you and I would be delighted to capture the journey that brought you to this momentous decision of getting married. Whatever your heart’s desire I will work with you to develop a bespoke and “one of a kind” wedding that reflects you. If you want alternative, I can do that; if you want traditional I can do that too; if you would like children or animals involved in the ceremony or friends or family playing a part – I love inclusive weddings! Why me? What makes me unique enough to deliver the wedding of your dreams? I have been a health professional, educator, and event organiser for over 40 years and am used to public speaking and ensuring things run smoothly. I am professional, confident, and empathetic as well as fun loving and joyful.
I love a good wedding and my favourites are those that have some element of guest involvement or participation; I particularly enjoy those involving live music, elements of ritual or quirky goings on! Whatever your choice I will use my experience and empathy to deliver your perfect day!
Naming Ceremonies
Welcoming a new baby into the family is an emotional and beautiful experience, providing an opportunity to give promises of commitment and love in that baby’s life. A naming ceremony is as individual as you are and provides the opportunity to have a ceremony anywhere and to do whatever you would like to include. Unlike a Christening there are no restrictions or procedures that you have to follow – it can be your ceremony done your way……. And it is not just restricted to new births: welcoming a new member of the family through adoption; the blending of two families where names are being changed; the start of a new life and a new name for whatever reason, all these can be celebrated with a naming ceremony!
Children can be such fun and I love talking with them, they are our future and at Swans Wing Ceremonies family is extremely important to me. I will create a wonderful naming ceremony that encompasses all the love and hope for the future that a new baby brings. However, as love and hope are limitless, they can apply to all new beginnings whatever the age and whatever the circumstances when the giving and receiving of a new name marks the start of a new life.
If you would like to include personal promises, have music, poetry or symbolic rituals….. anything is possible. Working together we can create a really memorable and individual ceremony that is truly unique.

My background as a Health Visitor and Educator means I have worked with children and families and can deliver a professional and meaningful ceremony with expertise and confidence. I will get to know you, exploring what your hopes and wishes are for the event. I will then compose a family focused, love-filled and joyful ceremony resulting in you and your family experiencing a completely unique, memorable, and significant day.
Renewal of Vows
Vow renewal is a wonderful and memorable way to celebrate the lasting commitment you have to your life partner. It may be that you were unable to have the wedding of your dreams the first time, you may be celebrating a milestone in your lives or there may be a reason to mark a new phase in your relationship such as celebrating with your children. Whatever the reason, renewing your vows can be a wonderful recognition and celebration of your enduring love for each other.
I will work with you to develop a unique celebration that reveals your love story and your journey together. All my ceremonies are bespoke and reflect your individuality and my creativity incorporating whatever music, readings, poetry, and rituals you wish to include. There are no limits on the options available to you and the celebration can be as serious and emotional or as frivolous and whacky as you want……you are in control!

Why choose Jane for your renewal of vows?
I was married over 40 years ago now and had a Church Wedding as it was that or a registry office wedding which we didn’t want; choice was very limited then. So, when we celebrated our Ruby wedding anniversary and as a result of our life journey together, we decided to renew or vows with a handfasting ceremony. Our adult children were present, and it was a small intimate celebration with just a few friends attending. We had had our big wedding party 40 years ago and this ceremony was about our enduring love and happiness.
Each vow renewal is personal and different reflecting the special and lasting love you have for each other. You may want to renew your vows at any point in time; it doesn’t have to be a milestone anniversary it can be an annual event, or it can be for whatever reason you choose, or no reason at all, other than an excuse for a great party! Whatever the reason I would be delighted and honoured to work with you to develop and write the bespoke celebration of your love and commitment to each other.
Funerals
As you are reading this. then you will have already lost a loved one or are preparing to say goodbye to someone dear to you. This can be a bewildering and difficult time but I am here to help you and to guide you through the process of saying the final goodbye. I have experienced personal loss and grief many times and it can be a difficult process to navigate but I am here to support and guide you, so together we can develop your final farewell and make your loved one’s last journey, one to remember.
Many people hold their services in a crematorium, but I am happy to conduct your chosen funeral or celebration of life at a graveside, a natural burial ground, in a garden or woodland, as well as at a crematorium. If you are hosting a Memorial gathering, this can be at a venue of your choosing; a hotel, a park, a steam train, anywhere that feels right for you to remember and celebrate the life of your loved one. Together we will start at the beginning and move through your loved one’s life capturing all the elements you and their family wish to include. This can be a simple and intimate goodbye or a large and exuberant celebration of life!
Whatever is right for you can be included, live music, readings, prayers or symbolic rituals and I am very happy to be guided and influenced by your own cultural backgrounds and individuality.

Why choose Jane for your funeral?
I retired some years ago from a Nursing and Teaching environment and decided as I reached a milestone birthday that it would be a waste to not continue supporting and caring for people so my 70th birthday present to myself was to train as a Celebrant! I am skilled in helping people during challenging times and am attentive and mindful of people’s needs. I know what it is like to have loved deeply and to lose people you are close to and would be honoured to support you through the difficult period of arranging your loved one’s final farewell.
