My name is Melody and I am an independent wedding and naming celebrant, born and raised in York, North Yorkshire.

I have also assisted families for important life moments, including funerals and memorials.
My friendly, kind and approachable manner puts people at ease. I reassure nervous grooms, smooth the veil of a bride about to walk down the aisle, grab a chair for the unsteady granny, entertain the kids or hold the family dog!

I specialise in creating naming ceremonies that sparkle, getting to know people, families and loved ones, to create ceremonies that are unique, fun and memorable. I pride myself on providing a VIP customer experience. My clients can trust me to support them and their families to have the best celebration possible.
Naming ceremonies take many forms and I will spend time getting to know you and your family to find out what is important to you. Welcoming a new baby is the most common type of naming ceremony and a key moment in the life of a child and their family. It is an opportunity to celebrate, welcome and introduce your new addition to your family and friends.
However, a Naming ceremony can take many forms. A family with newly adopted children may want to welcome them to their forever home and family. Or perhaps a celebration of the blending of two families with children from previous relationships, who want to declare their bond and celebrate their new family dynamic. Maybe someone wants to celebrate the beginning of their new life following a divorce. Or a trans person who has changed their name and wants to celebrate their identity and declare their pride for who they are. A real wedding guru
Every time I talk to Melody I feel calmer about the whole process of planning a wedding! Not only can she answer all my questions but she can offer other wise advice on issues I hadn’t even thought about yet. She is a real wedding guru and I feel really lucky that Melody will not only be officiating our wedding but being our Master of Ceremonies too. I couldn’t recommend her enough!

The final and most important piece of the wedding ceremony jigsaw!
Where do I start? I have met many celebrants, registrars, ministers, and priests as an international wedding planner. When I needed to secure a celebrant for an exclusive wedding in Yorkshire, I knew the role required a very special celebrant who wouldn’t be fazed by the huge number of guests, the opulent setting and importantly must ooze that certain reassuring calm quality and quirky sense of humour.
I knew just where to find this fabulous individual, and following a shout-out to training and qualified celebrants I received what can only be described as the most enthusiastic, passionate and professional message requesting more details from the amazingly talented Melody Diamond. As I read her beautiful reply, I knew instinctively Melody was the missing piece of the wedding ceremony jigsaw.
My clients are used to living their life in the public eye, however, a key request for their wedding ceremony was privacy, a short intimate ceremony that celebrated them as individuals, their passions and their new life together as the new Mr & Mrs P. Melody worked closely with the couple to create a bespoke, family orientated ceremony with gentle nods to their upbringing, cultural interests and their passion for travel. Melody encouraged the couple to be themselves and provided a safe space for the camera-shy couple whilst creating the most beautifully simple, emotional, and funny script. Melody, blended readings and stories from family members into the ceremony and indeed captured the couple perfectly.
Melody, made the role of a celebrant look easy and remained completely calm on the wedding day as an out-of-season monsoon descended at the secret outdoor location. As hundreds of guests arrived Melody kept the groom calm and then proceed to deliver a beautiful ceremony which left everyone emotional, laughing and crying happy tears… while the thunder and lightning sounded above.
I highly recommend Melody Diamond, and Melody will be the first number I dial when I next need a wedding celebrant.
