Were you planning on a destination wedding before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out? Is planning a destination wedding during a period of such uncertainty an act of madness or the perfect time? We talk to one experienced destination wedding celebrant in Greece for her advice and inspiration.
With so many couples finding themselves together more than normal during requirements that we #stayhome, it is so important to stay positive - and in order to do that, we must keep planning for the future.
Love is not cancelled, nor is it postponed, in fact during such unprecedented times it is love that will conquer all!
Couples will get engaged, quite possibly from a distance.
Couples who have been married will continue to think about renewing their vows.
And couples will still be dreaming of their perfect wedding day - quite possibly a destination wedding overlooking the one-of-a-kind blue waters of Greece.
Now there is no excuse not to get started with the research, you do after all have plenty of time on your hands if you are #stayinghome
It is not an act of total insanity, life will return to a new normal, we must remain patient.
Start dreaming together, forget the madness all around you and start planning how and where you would like to tie the knot.
In times of such uncertainty, have a plan A and a plan B, then you will be prepared for anything.
Keep every arrangement as provisional as possible until life starts to go back to normal when you will then be able to put your plans in to place and confirm your wedding planner, venue, celebrant and other suppliers.
For any couple thinking of a destination wedding in 2021, you can start talking to vendors now, consider potential dates, and talk to those of your family and friends who you would like to join you on your special day.
The summer season in Greece 2021 is likely to be the busiest wedding season ever with so many ceremonies already postponed from early 2020 months and with new enquiries, it would be wise to start planning earlier than normal.
Intimate elopement and micro weddings have been trending across Europe, and I think for 2021, we will see a huge increase in tiny ceremonies.
In such an uncertain world, wedding budgets may be altered but most couples who are dreaming of a destination wedding in Greece for example, don’t want to give up on their dreams.
An intimate elopement is a wedding with just you the couple and your celebrant. It is a chance for you to say your lifelong vows to each other and exchange wedding bands, in an unbelievably beautiful spot.
A celebrant will make your ceremony truly special, romantic and emotional and it will be a day to remember for the rest of your lives, it is after all your wedding day!
A micro wedding is as the name suggests, a small wedding, normally less than 10 persons to include the couple and their family and friends, and trending are villa venues, where both ceremony and party can be held, whilst also being the perfect choice for the built in honeymoon.
Couples choosing an intimate elopement or micro style wedding normally will have a family party to celebrate their marriage back home after tying the knot in their destination wedding location.
Whatever style and wherever you choose to get married as a couple, Greece has it all; stunning views, beautiful white washed villages, crystal clear blue waters, an eclectic selection of one-of-a-kind wedding venues, fabulous flavours and of course the love and support of the Greek people themselves.
